It is clear that states that are robustly rolling-out licenses for cannabis consumption and expanding on access for patients and recreational consumers are seeing the benefits in increased tax dollars while states that are limiting access are hurting their bottom line. Case-in-point Michigan has had $1 million in excise taxes from adult-use marijuana sales, and another $665,969 in sales tax for the state for the month of Dec-Jan on gross sales of $10M while California has had an approximate $300M in gross sales in the same monthly period.
